Nightmares: A Poem

Returning she

wakes, violently

runs, desperately

heart beating

tears falling

crying for help

grabbing for the bed and bodies

of a momma who's sure

of a daddy who's strong

needing to feel their skin

to hear their words,

"You're safe now. You're home."
